A part time, grant funded, position that will manage and coordinate all Family Literacy Center clinical and literacy programs.  The coordinator will work with literacy faculty, school districts and the general community to plan and implement clinical settings for participants.


Plan and implement overall program for Family Literacy Center working with College of Education literacy faculty and Assistant Dean for External Relations.

Coordinate schedules for clinical and diagnostic sessions with NU students and community participants.

Promote Family Literacy Center programs, goals and objectives and outcomes to potential funders and interested stakeholders.

Investigate funding sources.

Write grants and funding opportunities.

Manage Family Literacy Center budget.

Community Outreach.

Update and maintain materials and supplies for Family Literacy Center.

Utilize on line professional learning community for families to have access to literacy resources.

  1. Strong background in diagnostic and clinical procedures;
  2. Strong background in grants writing and management of grants;
  3. Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  4. Strong knowledge of community needs and demographics;
  5. Ability to work with all types of individuals;
  6. Creativity and innovation;
  7. Good public speaking skills;
  8. Ability to represent the College of Education at public events and meetings to promote Family Literacy Center;
  9. Good technology skills.

  1. Master's Degree in Education;
  2. 3-5 Years administrative experience and working with literacy programs in a clinical setting and/or school environment.
