The Assistant Director of Enrollment Marketing will report to the Director of Enrollment Marketing & Advertising and produce engaging content for the university’s websites and social media channels. This will primarily involve the authoring of articles and student/alumni profiles but may also include photography and some videography.


Generate content for various digital and social media platforms (e.g., website, email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)  Perform interviews with students, alumni, faculty, staff and administrators to support marketing initiatives; Assist Director of Enrollment Marketing with cultivation and execution of targeted student recruitment marketing plans; Develops short- and long-term promotion strategies; Analyze and provide reporting on content performance from customer relationship management system; Assist with managing and updating university websites; Tasks may include photography, videography and administrative duties, as needed; Maintain confidentiality of information (including but not limited to: student and employee personal information, student grades, etc.), both during and after their employment with the university. Any question regarding the confidentiality of material, should be referred to the supervisor. Any violation shall subject the employee to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment;  Perform other duties as assigned.


40%   Research, write, proof and coordination of content generation to assist in recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students; provide photo and video content, if needed.  

30%    Manage and coordinate online marketing content.  

10%    Attend meetings and events involving NU community or  media;  

10%    Evaluate marketing initiatives;  

10%    Provide general office coordination and record-keeping.


Must be a proven writer with a portfolio of news and feature articles. The writer must be passionate about accuracy, detail and making written pieces interesting and informative for a variety of audiences; Proven skills in producing shareable content; Understand how to create content for targeted audiences and evaluate its performance; Extensive knowledge of social media and emerging technologies; Reliable, resourceful, motivated, detail-oriented and entrepreneurial; Strong project management, organizational, time management and prioritization skills; Ability to be unfailingly pleasant and courteous to all NU constituents in a fast paced “newsroom-like” environment that often demands “juggling” several urgent requests and deadlines each day; Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment; Comfortable learning new digital programs and platforms


The functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, computer software applications, and calculator, involve extensive wrist and hand movements. All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.


Bachelor’s degree is required; Master's degree preferred in communications, marketing, English or a related field;  A valid New York State driver’s license is required that satisfies both University and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle.
