SUMMARY:

The Department of Modern & Classical Languages has an opening for a part time instructor to teach two classes in the Spring 2019 semester:  two sections of SPA 104 - Intermediate Spanish II. MWF 12:20  pm – 1:15 pm and 1:25 pm – 2:20 pm (the time of one of these sections could possibly be changed to accommodate a schedule).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Use a communicative approach to the teaching of a foreign language, teaching primarily in the target language with minimal English for clarification of some grammar points.

Prepare daily lesson plans and activities that engage students in their study of intermediate Spanish, following closely a syllabus provided by the Department Chair.

Prepare and grade tests, develop a method of grading daily homework, and evaluate students’ daily participation.

Maintain a class record and keep attendance.

Be available for students by appointment to help them with any specific problems they might be having with the course material.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Native or near native Spanish fluency

Thorough knowledge of subject matter;

Ability to plan and present instructional material in a clear, logical and concise manner;

Ability to maintain proper teacher-student relationship;

Sound professional judgment;

Initiative and resourcefulness;


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

Master's Degree in area of specialization required.
