SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, theCommunications, SOCIAL MEDIA & Graphic Design Coordinatorspecializes in optimizing the university’s print and online assets, including social media channels, to engage prospective students and influencers. The Communications, Social Media & Graphic Design Coordinator’s primary focus is on student enrollment and retention, but will also support other sectors of the university and serve a critical role in executing the institution’s strategic marketing campaigns.  

This position requires an exceptional attention to detail along with the abilities to prioritize tasks, update content efficiently and accurately, write with clarity, edit consistently, and uphold standards of professional communication. Job duties also require responsiveness, creativity, sound judgment, and strong initiative.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Under the direction of the Graphic Design Manager, design print and digital collateral and other assets across a variety of platforms, including web, print, video, email, and social media and ensure compliance with brand guidelines; Generate, edit, publish, and share engaging content on the university’s social media accounts to promote core messages and reinforce the university’s image; Communicate with social media followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews; Plan special social media events – such as Twitter chats and Facebook/Instagram Live broadcasts – to drive engagement; Actively monitor social media to ensure brand favorability; Coordinate student, faculty, staff, and alumni interviews that may be used for print and/or online materials; Develop social media plan built on goals and key performance indicators (KPIs); compile and track social media engagement data, and generate weekly reports pertaining to university’s performance; Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests; Design and implement social media ad campaigns; Photograph and/or record testimonials and other marketing outreach efforts, when applicable. Identify trends, insights, and emerging technologies; Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, graphic design or related field; Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop), experience in Quark a plus;Proficiency in social media management/marketing; Aptitude to work in Microsoft Office; Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; Ability to organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment; Positive attitude and strong work ethic; ability to work well within a team environment and across all levels of the university; Flexibility to work some weekends and nights for special events;

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to read and comprehend various forms, documentation, files and information. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and interact with the university community in a positive and constructive manner. Excellent care and attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Strong work ethic and unquestioned personal integrity. Dedication, commitment, and ability to work evenings when needed to complete tasks. Strong informational technology aptitude and skills including Microsoft Office and Admissions-related software. Aptitude and skill to work effectively with providing feedback while ensuring accountability for established objectives. Proficiency to handle various office machines including but not limited to: calculator, keyboard, computer, copy machine and fax machine. Ability to receive telephone calls, respond to inquiries and effectively communicate with others.  Ability to drive a personal or university vehicle for the purpose of university business on a regular basis. Must develop strong knowledge of and commitment to Niagara University’s mission and programs. Maintain confidentiality of information (including, but not limited to: student and employee personal information.)


ERGONOMIC REQUIREMENTS:

The functions of the position usually performed sitting, but may require some amount of time standing. Some amount of stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required. Tasks involving working on a computer keyboard, calculator, cutting, labeling, and taping involve involves extensive wrist and hand movements. This position also requires the ability to travel whenever necessary.  All individuals are required to be able to perform these movements without significant risk of injury to themselves or others.


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution. At least 1-3 years of professional graphic design and social media management experience. Knowledge of social media platforms, including cross-platform publishing and paid advertising. Must be proficient in Adobe Creative Suite software for graphic design, particularly InDesign and Photoshop. A valid New York State driver’s license is required that satisfies both University and insurance company underwriting rules and regulations for driving a motor vehicle. Must also be able to operate a motor vehicle in Canada
